I must say I found your article amusing, you single handedly touch on most of the media driven stereotypes and falsehoods regarding our economy, fortunately I think the media holds the minority view now that us peons have access to a media free of the old stalwarts monopoly. From an oppressive Walmart, to an economic gorilla in China to over estimating union enrollment to believing that every plebe Canadian is some beer swilling trailer trash oppressed minion incapable of looking after themselves. Suffice it to say that on each point you raise you are wrong.

Perhaps you would be more happy living in the Soviet Union, you see, it was the media that told us for years that the Soviet model was vastly superior to capitalism and that we could never compete, that we must simply co-exist. Clearly you resent capitalism and would rather critique it through the prism of your antiquated ideological views instead of the reality that it is, it is unfortunate that you despise so much a system that has generated more widespread opportunity and prosperity than any system in our history. So perhaps you should relocate to the Soviet Union…..oh yes, I forgot that that collective imploded on itself and fails to exist, I guess the great media minds were wrong on that also!

Iraq WMD's

I was waiting all weekend for this information to be released, I think this is a big story.

Some may laugh at this, saying that this issue is dead and this is now pure urban legend. I disagree and I believe that most people are aware of about 5% of the information/story on Iraqi WMD’s and weapons programs. The west has mountains of evidence showing Iraq had these weapons, had the infrastructure, aggressively deceived UN inspectors for years and did not account for a substantial amount of weapons that were inventoried to exist, and were viewed to have existed.

Next, it is no secret that the bureaucracy under Bush is predominantly anti-Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rice, this is beyond argument as is evident in a multitude of actions, not least of by all the constant leaks that plaque his administration. The CIA, the State Dept., FBI, etc etc etc. This bureaucracy is openly hostile to his policy in Iraq and has been undermining his approach to the war on terror since immediately after 9-11, this is a complete philisophicial/ideological difference of opinion in how to handle these middle east regimes. Ultimately it is the Carter/Bush 1/Clinton stance, which is the majority opinion in the bureaucracy versus the Bush 2/Regean approach.

So, the reason I believe the story for WMD isn’t over is because the case for them not existing simply doesn’t make sense in light of the 10-15 years of the run up to the latest war. The points outlined in this story simply make sense to me, they make sense in the light of Saddams previous actions (ie: flying his entire air force to Iran for safe keeping prior to Gulf War 1) and it makes sense with regards to the goals/aspirations of the American federal bureaucracy, several middle east regimes as well as Russian interests in undermining the US. What doesn’t make sense to me is that it was some elaborate fake out, in the end it may prove to be but at this point it hasn’t been established beyond doubt.

I know I sound like some crack pot, right wing, conspiracy theorist, but I’ve been trying to stay up on this story over the years and I have never believed that what was deemed the “end of the story” was actually that. I don’ think that this is on the level of some outlandish, near impossible, conspiracy theory. I think the assertions and claims are reasonable, realistic human behaviour, and thus believable in the light of 10-20 years of evidence, personal behaviors and geo-political issues.

Also, the reason I think this needs to be followed until the true and bitter end, whichever way that turns out to be, is because there is incredible danger in even the smallest amounts of these incredibly powerful weapons falling into the hands of some fanatic muslim. That is a very real possibility for our future and thus requires diligence to see this to a complete defendable end, not a political hot potatoe type of ending.

So, this winter saw "Brokeback Mountain" created, and subsequently played in a very small amount of theatres, yet the social butteflies of the left instantly proclaimed it a masterpiece, no surprise there, which I'll admit may very well be true. I haven't seen it, I don't intend to see it because the story simply doesn't interest me, that said, I'll admit that it may indeed be a very well done film.
BUT, so was 'The Passion', and the most Hollywood's ultra-left could bestow upon that great film, religious film, was a nomination for Best Costumes. It was a slap in the face to the majority of movie goers and the bulk of Hollywoods customers.

Hollywood actually believes that movie goers want to see more films about gay cowboys, they have completely lost contact with what the majority of their customers want. Hollywood has effectively become a political wing, it has become some kind of secular ideological advocating machine, advocating their fringe beliefs to an audience that wants no part of it or them.
What Hollywood needs to realize is that they are a business, with customers, and their job, if they wish to have one, is to create products that their customers wish to buy.
With so much competition for entertainment dollars these days, Hollywood is driving itself right into the toilet and will proceed to do so until they figure it out.

I understand that business is business but for Martin to go on at length about "my Canada" and declare how much more he cares about this country, well, it's pure crap because his actions tell a completely different story.
Martin was also allowed to stay on as the head of the company while sitting as the Finance Minister, sure he had some ridiculous "blind trust" set up yet somehow his company still managed to find out about very lucrative information. Anyways, it's all in the link.

Paul Martin's Health Care Solution
How will Paul Martin guarantee speedy health care?
Why, he'll have the government pay to fly you anywhere in the country that can perform your operation.
This is YET ANOTHER absurd and ridiculous policy position.
First, for a cash strapped system with massive wait times, this will simply drive up the costs of services, thus deteriorating the health care even more.
Second, it is ridiculous that Martin sees no problem in just wrapping up someone who is very ill, thrown them on a stretcher and send them.....wherever. For me the nearest hospital is 4 hours away, a person could easily die en route, especially in the middle of winter.
Third, would Martin allow family to travel? Or would he ship someone off to who knows where, all by themselves?
Fourth, why can't Martin simply acknowledge that the system is fundamentally broken and lead with tangible solutions, solutions that don't involve shipping sick patients hundreds of miles.

Once again, this is Martin doing the bare minimum. This is Martin making feel good promises that amount to little, and actually do more harm then good. It is staggering how terrified the federal Liberals are of actually providing leadership and ideas.

The Modern Day Nazi Build Up
Anyone familiar with the rise of the Germany via Hitler is well aware that post WW1 Germany began a massive build up of its armed forces, both in numbers and machinery.
This was in direct violation of treaties limiting Germanys armed forces and it was clearly part of a hostile plan.

Western Europe, along with the League of Nations, now known as the United Nations, also knew that Hitler was rebuilding it's military.

Just another example of how the American left crave the power of governance above all else, even if it requires them to adopt policies that aren't in the best interests of their people.

But it's against white men so that really doesn't count, the reality of life in "progressive" and "enlightened" western bastions of liberalism is that the status-quo is to talk of equality and inclusiveness yet discrimination against white men and Catholics is perfectly acceptable. So, this bureaucrat in the story backtracks on the policy that no white men need apply for jobs, stating that it's "misconstrued" and had the "appearance" of discrimination. What a lame response, how else does an intelligent and rational person describe a government policy that sets out qualified groups of applicants and purposely leaves white men off the list. It is racism and sexism, pure and simple, and the delicate hearted liberals in the country simply don't have the courage to stand up and fight for their beliefs, it's their belief system so let them defend it....but part of being liberal is covering or denying your true beliefs (probably because they have no consistent beliefs and change them all the time).
The real absurdity here is that I have seen this exact same hiring policy 12 years ago when I graduated from natural resource studies, the government of Ontario had plenty of positions that stated that qualified applications must be women, aboriginals, handicapped, or other visible minority......white men need not apply. And it also discriminates against those very groups because what it essentially says is that since those groups can't compete against white men, they will remove white men from the list completely, since those groups are incapable of getting the job based on their merits, we'll eliminate some of the competition.
The dirty little secret is that liberals may endlessly espouse the cause of equality but their policies, and beliefs, are nothing but pure racism and sexism, and that is based in pure fact, not opinion.

Canadian Democracy A Farce
The House of Commons (what an insulting name....the house of the representatives of the common rabble) passed a motion calling for the minority Liberals to dissolve parliament and call an election.
And PM Dithers, showing his complete disregard for democracy and will of the people via their elected representatives, is ignoring this motion completely.
Why?

Slobodan Milosevic's trial is still crawling along in the International Court. Clinton talks of quamire's in Iraq yet his own intervention into Bosnia is still drawing out, clearly he had no "exit strategy". More than 10 years later Milosevic is still on trial whereas Saddam is on trial in a mere 3 years.

Bring This Government Down
The pay off of the Canadian electorate has begun. The federal Liberal party is offering paltry tax cuts in order to bribe the electorate, their plan is plain for all to see and it is unethical.
The part that angers me the most is the degree in which the Liberals have continually under cut their revenue projections, in essence hiding billlions of dollars of Canadian prosperity every year and using it as a political slush fund. This hits close to my own home, I grew up in the same town.
Fredrick Banting discovered insulin and instead of applying for a patent he sold the rights to the University of Toronto for a mere $1.00.
Fredrick Banting was in the "Greatest Canadian" contest and, while he managed to crack the top 10 along with, of all people, Don Cherry, the people of Canada did not even award him first place.
His house in Alliston was declared a historic landmark and the Ontario government has allowed it to fall into disrepair and neglect.

Banting turned down incredible wealth so that mankind could reap the benefits of insulin, Banting is a true Canadian hero and Canadians should be in awe of the man.

There is no greater sign of our times than this story, our history and culture are eroding and falling apart while Canadians pursue some ridiculous utopian fantasy.
